In memory of

Leonard W. Miller

of Philip, South Dakota, died on Friday, April 29, 2011 at the McKinney Medical Center in McKinney, Texas at the age of 58

Leonard was born August 15, 1952, the second of ten children born to Henry and Louise (Mehlbrech) Miller. He grew up in Salem and Philip, South Dakota. Leonard attended Philip High School and later worked in the Philip area.
Leonard moved to Kansas City, Kansas and later to Salina, Kansas where he was involved in a factory accident that severely injured his arm. Several surgeries were required in the years to come. Leonard enrolled in the Salina Technology Institute in Salina, where he received a degree as a Computer Technical Engineer. Leonard was very proud of this achievement. He accepted a position with Southwestern Bell Company in Salina. The company later transferred Leonard to Dallas, Texas which later became AT&T, where he was employed until his death.
Leonard liked to travel all over the country. He always had a good story to tell when he got back. Leonard loved the state of Texas, and was a dedicated fan of the Texas Rangers. He was an active member of the VFW in Farmersville, volunteering for benefit barbecues and the Fire Department. He was known for his Southern Crock Pot Beans. Leonard loved to read, especially books from his favorite author, Dean Koontz.
Leonard’s family will miss his annual visits to his hometown of Philip, his vehicle loaded with Texas watermelons and treasures found at flea markets. Leonard’s mother will dearly miss his weekly phone calls.
Leonard’s family would like to express deep gratitude to his supervisors Connie and Mike and wife Tina for all their help during this difficult time.
Survivors include his mother Louise Miller of Philip; one brother Mike Miller and his wife Debbie of Philip; six sisters Linda Stotts and her husband Carl of Missoula, Montana, Rene Konst of Philip, Joan Miller of Ault, Colorado, Mary Lee of Sioux Falls, Donna Kroetch and her husband Brad of Rockledge, Florida, and Nancy Roehler and her husband Mark of Belle Fourche; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
