In memory of

Marilyn Walker

of Wall, South Dakota, died on Monday, October 8, 2012 at the Hospice of the Hills in Rapid City at the age of 78

Marilyn Lytle Walker was born August 1, 1934, the second of six daughters born to Don and Zohy (Amiotte) Lytle. She was born in Pine Ridge, SD and raised in old Washabaugh County, SD. She attended Lone Tree rural school through grade school and Interior High School.
Bill Walker and Marilyn Lytle were married on August 28, 1950, in Miles City, Montana. From this union three children were born: Harlan, Debbie, and Randy. Bill and Marilyn ranched in the Conata Basin and on the Pine Ridge Reservation from 1950 until 1979 when they sold the ranch and moved to Rapid Valley where they lived until 2003. At that time they moved to Wall to be close to their three children and their families.
Marilyn's hobbies included gardening, cooking, throwing horseshoes, and playing games with her children and grandchildren. Bill and Marilyn spent many happy years raising and racing their horses in South Dakota and surrounding states.
Survivors include a son, Harlan and his wife Lori, a daughter Debbie Shepard and her husband Randy, and a son Randy and his wife Cheryl, all of Wall; eight grandchildren: Brian Shepard, Riley Walker, Tyler Walker, Brady Shepard, Chad Walker, Haley (Walker) Raker, Amanda (Walker) Kjerstad, and Abbie Walker; eight great-grandchildren: Sydney Shepard, MacKenzie Shepard, Braylee Walker, Teelan Kjerstad, Trevin Walker, Brittney Walker, Cohen Walker, and Presley Kjerstad; and four sisters Loy Hamm of Wall, Kay Price of Belle Fourche, Bobby Crawford of Rapid City, and Sherry Lytle of Spearfish
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Bill on May 13, 2004; her parents; and her sister, Janice O'Rourke.
Visitation was held 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, October 11, at the Rush Funeral Chapel in Wall.
Graveside services were held 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 12, at the Wall Cemetery, with Pastor Harold Delbridge officiating.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.

Harlan, Debbie, Randy and their families – Beck and I wish to extend our deepest sympathy and are sorry that we could not be there with you all. Aunt Marilyn was one heck of a lady and she will be missed by all who knew her. We had so many good times with her and Uncle Bill during our visits to the ranch, Rapid City, Wall, and their visits to Aurora, CO. Harlan, Debbie, Randy and families, You are certainly in our prayers and thoughts, Your Mom was a super-woman, one of those hardy individuals that reminded us all to stand up tall and face life square-on. No matter how old we are, Moms are always there as she will continue to be.

Wow! What a beautiful family Bill and Marilyn created. We are so blessed to be included in it. Marilyn was so loving, understanding and kind to all of us and she never forgot us. She had a beautiful way of getting you to open up and was so accepting. We love you all and wish we there to give you hugs. We will always remember her.
