In memory of

Vicky Lee Dale

of Philip, South Dakota, died on Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City at the age of 51

Vicky Lee Miller was born May 10, 1955 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the daughter of Henry "Hank" and Louise (Mehlbrech) Miller. She lived in Salem until the age of eleven when the family moved to Philip. She grew up and received her education in Philip, graduating from Philip High School in 1973.

Vicky was united in marriage to C.K. Dale III in 1973, and to this union were born three children; Hester, C.K. IV, and Charlie. She is now the grandmother to three boys, Parker, Matt, and Gavin. She loved to watch, care for, and play with them. She was very proud of her role as grandma.

Vicky loved to play bingo with her friends. She looked forward to Friday nights. She was the "answering machine", bookkeeper, and dispatcher for the family trucking business, and took a lot of pride in their success. She loved to get flowers and tend to her flowerbeds. She enjoyed cross-stitching, and whenever you would call the house you could always hear Judge Judy, Judge Hatchet, any judge show or Law and Order in the background. She looked forward to this fall when the reruns would be over, because she had seen every episode.

She never wanted anyone to make a fuss over her, but she was always there for anyone who needed anything. She was our everything, and will be greatly missed.

Grateful for having shared her life include her husband CK Dale III of Philip; two sons CK Dale IV of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Charlie Dale of Philip; one daughter Hester Prouty and her husband Joe of Rapid City; three grandchildren Parker and Matthew Prouty, and Gavin Dale; her mother Louise Miller of Philip; two brothers Leonard Miller of Dallas, Texas, and Mike Miller and his wife Debbie of Philip; six sisters Linda Stotts and her husband Carl of Missoula, Montana, Rene Konst of Philip, Joan Carson and her husband Greg of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, Mary Lee of Winner, South Dakota, Donna Kroetch and her husband Brad of Rapid City, and Nancy Roehler and her husband Mark of Sioux Falls; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Vicky was preceded in death by her father Henry W. "Hank" Miller on November 5, 2001, and a sister Karen Williams.

"Her Love"

Bring comfort to my heart I pray,
I’ve lost a dear, dear friend.
She understood and loved me,
With a love that will not end.

I’ll carry it within me,
And give it all away.
To each of my own children,
As I live with them each day.

And when my years have been fulfilled,
My time on earth is gone,
The love she richly gave to me,
Will still be living on.

  • I was so saddened to hear of Vicky's death. She was always so involved in her family and happy to spend time with the grandchildren whenever possible. Her home was her castle and the pride in the improvements done in the past few years was so good.
"Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength." Vicky was great to accept the responsibility of being a call person when her neighbor, my mom, Ruth Fairchild, needed a close response person and Vicky went to hang up the phone that got knocked off the hook and visit with Ruth on several occasions. We take those kindnesses for granted, but it was greatly appreciated. A wonderful caring person will be missed.
