  • Thelma and Family, I am very sorry to hear of Jim's passing this morning. You are all in our prayers and have our deepest sympathy. Sincerely, Bev and Cork ~ Beverly (Couch) Jahner Kerrville, Texas (2/5/2002)
  • Will always remember Jim, as a customer, when I worked in the Midway Cafe while I was going to high school and of course Thelma as a grade school teacher- both are wonderful people. My sympathy to the family. ~ Barbara (McDaniel) Byrne Sundance, WY (2/5/2002)
  • Dear Family, You have our deepest sympathies. I have a little story about Jim. Mallard, Hopper, and I were in Sun City visiting and I had the pleasure of staying with Jim and Thelma. Well in order for us to stay there Jim had us do some "chores". While we doing these chores Jim asks me, "You hungry?" Of course I say "Yeah kind of." Then Big Jim says "Grab one of those oranges off that tree!" I say "Maybe later." And of course Big Jim says, "No I want to see you eat one NOW!" So being the foolish person I am I grab one. I nearly break or bend all of my fingernails off or back just trying to peel it. Anyway I get peeled. Then Big Jim says, "They're real juicy so take a big bite." Of course I do. That was the most sour and bitter orange I have ever tasted. Big Jim thought that was a pretty good trick to pull on young green guy. I know it made his day. He truly was a true classic. We will all truly miss him. Again our deepest sympathies. ~ Mr. & Mrs. Andrew Reckling 3612 West St. Patrick Apt #3, Rapid City, SD 57702 (2/5/2002)
