In memory of

Richard "Dick" White

of Interior, South Dakota, died on Sunday, October 9, 2005 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City at the age of 70

Richard White, better known as "Dick" to his family and friends, was born June 29, 1935, in Pedro, South Dakota, the son of Ward Clarence and Margaret (Mayer) White. He grew up and received his education in that area.

He was united in marriage to Loretta Lange on June 9, 1962 in Rapid City.

The last twenty-five years, they have made their home in Interior.

Survivors include his mother Margaret Williams of Philip; his wife Loretta White of Interior; three daughters and their families Doris Ann Eisenbraun and her husband Fred of Creighton, and their children Matthew and Roseanne; Ricki Sue Peterson and her husband David of Buffalo Gap, South Dakota, and their children Tracy Pollina and her husband Brian, David Peterson Jr. and his wife Chrissy, and Heather Peterson; and Deanna Mitchell and her sons Shaun and Troy of Casper, Wyoming; six great-grandchildren Miranda, Joshua, and Haley Pollina, and Teonna, Hadleigh, and Lauren Peterson; three sisters Audrey Hoffman and her husband Maurice of Wall, Delores Poss and her husband Donnie of Philip, and Margie Kjerstad and her husband Jerry of Piedmont; three brothers Bill White and his wife Rose of Creighton, Bob White of Arizona, and Fred White and his wife Arlene of North Platte, Nebraska; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Dick was preceded in death by his father Ward Clarence White, and a nephew George Hoffman.

Visitation was held 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 on Wednesday, October 12, all at the Rush Funeral Chapel in Wall.

Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 13, at the Interior School Gym, with Pastor Mark Ford officiating.

Interment was in the Interior Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial is established.

  • I have wonderful memories staying with Uncle Dick and Aunt Loretta during the summer growing up. One time my Mom toke my horse Shorty to stay too for I could ride and gather the cows with Uncle Dick, for branding. That was a great time and I had a brand new saddle, Uncle Dick would twist my stirrups to form them. I think of those times often.
