In memory of

Darrin L. Harvey

of Interior, South Dakota, died on Tuesday, May 27, 1997 near rural Scenic at the age of 29

Darrin L. Harvey was born June 17,1967, at Rapid City, South Dakota, the son of Donald and Patricia (Griswold) Harvey.

He grew up in the Interior community where he attended Interior Elementary School prior to graduating from Kadoka High School in 1985.  He was employed during his summer months of high school as a YCC employee and a fee collector at the Badlands National Park.

After high school he served in the U.S. Army as a German Language Interpreter, serving from June 18, 1985, until his discharge on June 17, 1989.  After his discharge he served in the Army Reserve and also attended Black Hills State University in Spearfsh.  He then attended Law Enforcement Training School at Ely, Minnesota, where he graduated with high honors.

Darrin then became employed as a Park Ranger for the Badlands National Park near Interior.  Later he attended Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Georgia and was just recently promoted to Pinnacle District Ranger at the Badlands National Park.

Darrin was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Interior; was presently serving as Fire Chief for the Volunteer Fire Department of Interior; was a S.D. EMT and a member of the National Register of EMTs; was a member of the National Rifle Association; and a recipient of many awards from the Badlands National Park Service.

Grateful for having shared his life are his parents, Donald and Patty Harvey of Interior; a brother, Matt L. Harvey of Interior; several aunts and uncles; many cousins; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Loyd and Betty Griswold, and his paternal grandparents, Lynn James and Helen I. Harvey, and a special friend, Wiebka Marks.
