In memory of

Francis "Frank" Jelinek

of Fairbanks, Alaska, formerly of Philip, South Dakota, died on Monday, December 23, 1996 at his home in Fairbanks, Alaska at the age of 27

Francis J. Jelinek, better known as "Frank" to his family and friends, was born April 17, 1969, at Rapid City, South Dakota, the son of James and Gloria (Radway) Jelinek.

He grew up in the Rapid City community and graduated from Stevens High School in 1988, in Rapid City.  He then attended college for one year at Winona State in Minnesota.

During the summer months while Frank was in high school, he worked on his maternal grandparents' ranch north of Philip.  He was active in aports during high school and was an All-State Linebacker and was a wrestling champion.  He played baseball during his summer months in Philip, first with the Little League and later as catcher for the Teener Baseball Program.

As a young man Frank worked in the Rapid City area as a mobile home installer and later for Wampler Lumber Company in Philip.  He moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where he worked maintaining and installing swimming pools.  In the spring of 1996, Frank moved to Fairbanks, Alaska, where he worked as a yardman for a hardware and lumber company.

Grateful for having shared his life are his parents, James Jelinek of Engelwood, Colorado, and Gloria Jelinek of Phoenix, Arizona; a son, Jade Kampfe of Gillette, Wyoming; a brother, Jeffrey Jelinek of Rapid City; a sister, Jennifer Jelinek of Dalton, Georgia; his maternal grandmother, Mildred Radway of Philip; his paternal grandmother, Mabel Jelinek of Colome, South Dakota; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Frank was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Robert Radway, and his paternal grandfather, Francis Jelinek.

A memorial is established.
