Theodore H. Fosse, better known as "Ted" to his family and friends, was born July 15, 1912, on his father's homestead in the Hilland area, nothwest of Philip, to Roy and Sarah (Running) Fosse.

He grew up on the homestead and attended country school prior to graduating from Rapid City High School in 1931.

Ted was united in marriage to Violet Pederson on June 28, 1941, at Mitchell, South Dakota.

They made their home in Huron where Ted worked for the General Accounting Office until the spring of 1942 when they moved to a farm two and one-half miles northwest of Hilland, which included his father's original homestead.  As years went by, they expanded their farming and cattle operation.  In October of 1973, they purchased a home in Philip where they resided, but Ted continued to operate the farm-ranch until retiring in 1988.

Because of health reasons he moved into the Philip Nursing Home in March of 1991.

Ted was a very active member of the First Lutheran Church of Philip.  He was a former member of the Philip Lions Club.  He had served on the board of the Haakon County Soil Conservation Service and also the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital Board.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Violet "Vi" Fosse of Philip; two daughters, Dena Hunt and her husband, Ted, of Spearfish, South Dakota, and Kathy Kampfe and her husband, Garland, of Philip; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Alice Henschel of Martin, South Dakota; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Ted was preceded in death by his son, Delane Fosse, and his parents.

A memorial is established to the First Lutheran Church or the Philip Nursing Home.
