of Philip, South Dakota, died on Friday, December 10, 1993 at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip at the age of 83
Mary A. (Williams) Wheeler was born July 23, 1910, in her parents' log cabin on the south fork of the Bad River, the youngest child of Harry and Grace (Allen) Williams. She spent her childhood on the Triangle Ranch and graduated from Cottonwood High School.
She was united in marriage to George A. Wheeler on April 18, 1936, at Rapid City, South Dakota. Together they started the Wheeler Hereford Ranch on the Little Buffalo. Two children were born to this union, Charmaine Stewart and Justin Wheeler.
Mary was an excellent seamstress and loved to sew for her family. She was an extensive traveler, having journeyed to Alaska three times, Nova Scotia, and almost all of the States.
She was a member of the Big Buffalo Bible Study Group, the Kadoka Presbyterian Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, Evergreen Chapter #97, and the Jackson County CowBelles. She enjoyed being a homemaker and her family was her top priority.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband of 57 years, George Wheeler of Philip; a daughter and son-in-law, Charmaine and Dugan Stewart of Philip, and their familiy, Richard and Diana Stewart, Kellie, Beau and Jeb, all of Philip, Tina Stewart of Amarillo, Texas, and Steven Stewart of Philip; a son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Joyce Wheeler of Philip, and their family, Joan and Jim Cantrell and Ty of Philip, Jackie and Gary Hansen of Rapid City, Jenna Wheeler of Sheridan, Wyoming, and Jimmy Wheeler of Philip; four nephews, Jesse, Sylvan, Vint and Pat Williams; one niece, Asta Amiotte; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Vincent Thomas Stewart and Jade Arthur Wheeler; four brothers, Thomas, George, Bill and Peter Williams; two sisters, Sarah Williams and Dell (Williams) Garner; and her parents, Grace and Harry Williams.
