In memory of

Kay Reckling

of Philip, South Dakota, died on Friday, July 10, 2015 at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip at the age of 62

Kathleen Marie “Kay” Weber was born June 29, 1953, in Echo, Minnesota, one of nine children born to Gregor and Dorothy (Erickson) Weber. She grew up in Echo, Minnesota and began her schooling in Echo. In the third grade, she moved with her family to Philip, where her dad worked at the bank. She continued her education in Philip, graduating from Philip High School in 1971. After graduation, she attended South Dakota State University for a short time before moving back to Philip, where she worked at the Dakota Bar and later Philip Motor for a number of years.

On June 19, 1979, her daughter Sanna, the pride and joy of her life, was born in Sioux Falls. Kay was united in marriage to Randy Reckling on May 31, 1985 in Philip. They made their home in Philip where she worked at Kemnitz Law Office and with Randy at Reckling’s Furniture. Kay later moved to Rapid City where she worked at a law firm and then at Rapid City Regional Hospital. In 2006, Kay moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, where she worked as a receptionist and later in accounts payable, for an electronics company. In August 2009, Kay moved back to Philip, where she worked at Ingram Hardware and Philip Health Services. In 2011, she took a position at the Kadoka High School and moved to Kadoka where she has since resided.

Family was of the utmost importance to Kay. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, bingo, walking, taking trips, and spending time with grandchildren.

Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter Sanna Rock and her husband Brandon of Long Valley; three grandchildren Dawson, Madalyn and Landry Rock; her mother Dorothy Weber of Philip; four brothers Tim Weber and his wife Betty of Douglas, Wyoming, Craig Weber of Philip, Jack Weber of Gillette, Wyoming, and Jeff Weber and his wife Randi of Gillette; three sisters Julie Seager and her husband Pat of Philip, Suzan Berry of Philip, and Anita Weber of Scottsdale, Arizona; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Kay was preceded in death by an infant son James Duane Weber; her father Gregor A. “Greg” Weber on December 8, 2014; a sister Peggy Jo Weber Stone on February 19, 2015; and a nephew Joseph Parisi.

We are truly grateful to have had the privilege of being a friend of Kay's and yours. We had some good times when we worked together and when you babysat for Brynn. • I'm so sorry for your loss. I've known Kay for a long time and played softball with her a long time ago. She will be missed a lot not only by all of you but by everyone that knew her. Always remember she will carry you with her now forever as you will carry her with you forever. Remember all the fun times! ~ Jo Ann Hanson Spearfish, SD (7/10/2015)
  • Even though I had not seem Kay for several years, she was always in my trail of memories that I cherish. I always feel that if you left a part of you in just one person's heart on this earth, your job was well done here on earth as that means you touched somebody; Sanna, she defnitely touched many people's hearts, so she will live on with many, and that sweet touch may just be what gets "one" person through their own journey in life. God bless all of you as you try to move on without her here on earth, but yet knowing she will never truly be gone, just not seen. I love you Sanna. Even though I have not seen you or touched base with you in the last year, there will always be a part of you and your mom with me and, that my friend, is love.
