of Philip, South Dakota, died on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip at the age of 58
Russell Warren “Rusty” Baye was born April 27, 1963, in Philip, South Dakota, the son of Richard and Teddy (Gibson) Baye. He grew up and received his education in Philip, where he lived much of his life.
Rusty was united in marriage to Johanna Grenz on October 12, 1991, and in April of 1992, their son Richie was born. He was so proud of Richie from Day 1. He enjoyed doing whatever he could with him, including showing him how to run and work on ATV’s and lawn mowers. He also taught him things about camping, fishing, and hunting. Rusty enjoyed watching Richie in his school activities, but most of all he enjoyed hunting and spending time with him.
Rusty worked for many years at the local John Deere shop in Philip under Baye & Sons, the family business for many years. He also worked for Moodie’s and Grossenburg’s, until opening his own small engine shop on August 12, 2011. He enjoyed helping out his customers any way he could.
Survivors include his wife Johanna of Philip; one son Richie Baye and his wife Jamie of Philip; four granddaughters Rhea, Willow, Tinley and Zaylee; his parents Richard and Teddy Baye of Mission, Texas; a brother Sylvan Baye and his wife Stephanie of Riverside, Iowa; three sisters Bobbie Woitte and her husband Joe of Midland, Lisa Horner and her husband Albert of Mandan, North Dakota, and Jenny Schmitt and her husband Patrick of Crooks, South Dakota; and a host of other relatives and friends.
