Mary Ellen Wellman was born September 10, 1927, on the homeplace 10 miles north of Okaton, the daughter of Glenn and Bessie (Judd) Wellman. After the kids grew up, she went to work at a motel in Murdo. She later worked at the Kadoka Nursing Home for many years, when her mother was a resident at the home.
