In memory of

Beverly Lou Moon

of Philip, South Dakota, died on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip at the age of 75

Beverly Lou Moon was born March 8, 1943 in Pierre, South Dakota to Albert C. and Mary Isabel (Rathbun) Moon. She attended school at the Presentation Children’s Home in Sioux Falls for some of her early childhood years.

Beverly always made a home with family members in the Fort Pierre area and also spent time with her Aunt in Las Vegas, Nevada. Beverly spent the last 12 years in the Philip community where she resided with family and later moved to the Silverleaf Assisted Living Facility.

Beverly loved listening to music and enjoyed dancing. Bev loved all activities at the Silverleaf including bingo, dice games, and especially Yahtzee. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Fort Pierre for many years and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Philip for the last 12 years.

Beverly had beautiful warmth about her and was very accepting of everyone she met. Her gentle, quiet, and unassuming nature will never be forgotten.

Survivors include one brother Ralph Becking of Watertown, one sister Karen (Bill) Donahue of Onida; seven nieces, two nephews, and other family members and friends.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Mary; one brother Albert Becking; and two sisters Betty Sutliff and Patricia Moon.

  • Bev will be forever missed. She lived with us in Las Vegas from 1962 to 1968 to help my mother Edith Rathbun Bogle Williamson take care of myself, my sister Eleanor and my brother Raymond. Mom worked as many as 3 jobs when we moved here and Bev was always there for us. She was a funny, kind, and loving person. Mom would give her the instructions and she would follow them to a tee. One of the many memories I have is when the paperboy came to collect and mom being at work, Bev thought she would help and took my moms silver half Kennedy dollars to pay him. She was so proud of what she did. Mom not so much. The three of us will forever hold her in our hearts and memories. May you rest in peace and give mom a kiss and hug from us. We love you . Karen, Eleanor, and Raymond ~ Karen Bogle Schaffner Las Vegas, Nevada (1/28/2019)

  • Bonnie was always such a sweet, gentle little thing. It was truly our gift to have her presence. She will be sorely missed. ~ Shirley N Chin Cleveland, Tn. (1/26/2019)
  • What a privilege it was to care for Beverly at Silverleaf... the place she called "her home" for the last several years. Bev was a kind and gentle soul who never judged and showed love and compassion to all she came in contact with. She was adored by our Silverleaf staff and will be greatly missed. Silverleaf won't be the same without her. Rest In Peace, Beverly. I know you are now singing with the angels!!! ~ Julie McLaughlin Midland, SD (1/26/2019)
