of Philip, South Dakota, died on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip at the age of 86
Sharon Irene Coyle was born January 5, 1933 in Midland, South Dakota. She was the second daughter of Robert “Bob” and Laura (Hand) Eymer. Sharon grew up in the Milesville area and graduated from Philip High School in 1950.
Sharon was married to Robert “Bob” Coyle on June 1, 1950, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Philip. They made their home in Philip and enjoyed 50 years of marriage until Bob’s death on July 4, 2000.
Sharon was a homemaker and also kept books for Bob’s Dray business and the Philip Ambulance Services. She and Bob enjoyed working with their cattle. After her last daughter began attending college, she worked in the lunchroom at the Philip School and then worked in the office at Kennedy Implement. After Bob’s death, Sharon volunteered at the Small Pine Daycare for almost 8 years.
Sharon was active in the community and in her church. She was a long-time member of the Sacred Heart Church Evening Guild, American Legion Auxiliary, Philip Hospital Auxiliary, AARP, Bad River Senior Citizens and Community Betterment.
Sharon’s passions in life were always her family and her faith. She is survived by her nine children: Roxanne Mickley of Rapid City, SD; Bob Coyle and wife Karen of Martin, SD; Bruce Coyle and wife Corinne of Newton, IA; Rick Coyle and wife Rhonda of Philip, SD; Ronnie Coyle and wife Dawn of Philip, SD; Rhonda Hale and husband Jim of Arvada, CO; Debbie Ness of Audubon, MN; Donna Rausch and husband Kurt of Hoven, SD; and Connie Coyle and spouse Lisa Fair of Arvada, CO; 20 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her parents Bob and Laura Eymer, her sister and brother-in-law Shirley and Howard Parsons, her brother Donnie Eymer, her sister and brother-in-law Diane and Don Schurr, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mom’s extended family at the Silverleaf Assisted Living Center, both staff and residents. Her last years were happy because of the loving care she received there, and she was happy to call the Silverleaf “home”.
At Sharon’s request, in lieu of flowers, memorials will be directed to Sacred Heart Church, Haakon County Prairie Transport or the Silverleaf Assisted Living Center. Memorials can be sent to P.O. Box 664, Philip, SD 57567.
