In memory of

Mary Jane Schnee

of Kadoka, South Dakota, died on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip at the age of 88

Mary Schnee, age 88, of Kadoka, passed from this earthly life to eternal life and into the arms of Jesus following a battle with cancer.

Mary Jane Robinson was born February 16, 1929, in Sturgis, South Dakota, the daughter of Charles B. and Justine A. (Ricard) Robinson. Mary grew up in the Black Hills where she attended and graduated from Piedmont High School in 1947.

She was united in marriage to Harold Glen Schnee on August 19, 1967, in Cheyenne, WY. They made their home on the Schnee farm in Kadoka South Dakota.

Mary was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary Post #27 both of Kadoka. She and Harold were driving enthusiasts of horses and mules and helped promote many wagon trains. Their happiest years together were spent with their team of mules and friends who enjoyed the same.

Grateful for having shared her life are a son Steve Burton of Colorado Springs, CO; a daughter Teresa Hernandez and her husband Rob of Little Rock, Arkansas; one son Clinton Schnee and his wife Darlene of Kadoka; two daughters Carol LaBau and her husband Doyle of Rapid City, and Caron Mielke and her husband Rick of Piedmont; grandchildren Nate and Jake Hernandez of Nashville, TN and Cole Burton of Alabama; four grandchildren Ted Schnee, Angela (Kenton) McKeehan, Mikala and Erika Mielke; great-grandchildren J.T. and Reily Burton; five great-grandchildren: Aubrey Schnee of Kadoka, and Ana, Molly, Kate, and Max McKeehan of Kadoka; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Harold Schnee on December 5, 2012; her parents; a brother Frank "Ike" Robinson; a sister Nita "Toots" Hunter; a beloved daughter, Cindy (Burton) Thompson; a beloved grandson Matthew VanHouten, and a great-granddaughter, Baylee McKeehan.

This past month has been difficult but the outpouring of God's love was evident as many family and friends had time to gather around Mary to assist with her care and to pray with her during her battle. Mary knows that the Lord is her shepherd, for He made her lie down in green pastures and He led her beside still waters. He restored her soul. He led her in paths of righteousness for His name's sake. For even though Mary walked through the valley of the shadow of death, she did not fear evil, her Lord was with her, his rod and his staff comforted her. He has prepared a table before her in the presence of her enemies; He anointed her head with oil; her cup overflowed and goodness and mercy followed Mary all the days of her life and now she shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. (Psalm. 23)

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.

A celebration of life service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 13, at the Presbyterian Church in Kadoka with Pastor Gary McCubbin officiating.
