Eugene "Gene" Noackof Philip, South Dakota, died on Tuesday, January 4, 2000

Eugene Carl Noack, better known as "Gene" to his family and friends, was born May 16, 1908, on his parents' homestead in the Lucerne Community in Old Stanley County, northeast of Philip, the son of Eugene Hugo and Maria (Loebner) Noack.
He grew up on his parents' homestead and received his education in the Lucerne and Elbon rural schools. As a young man, he worked on the farm-ranch with his father.
Gene was united in marriage to Lucille W. Whitney on July 24, 1934, at Philip. They made their home on the Noack homestead, where they farmed and ranched with Gene's father. Later, they continued to operate the farm-ranch until their retirement.
They continued to live on the farm-ranch until 1992, when they moved into the Senechal Apartments in Philip, where they resided until moving into the Philip Nursing Home.
Eugene was a member of the United Church of Philip and had served on the Lucerne School Board for several years.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Lucille Noack of Philip; a son, Carl H. Noack and his wife, Brenda, of Philip; two daughters, Marjorie Thorvaldson and her husband, Gerald, of Casper, Wyoming; and Catherine Kroetch and her husband, Charles, of Philip; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Martha Noack of Denver, Colorado; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Walter Noack; a grandson, Jeffrey Kroetch; and a great-grandson in infancy.
A memorial is established.
