Karen Ann Williams

of Philip, South Dakota, died on Saturday, February 1, 1997
at her home in Philip at the age of 40

Karen Ann Miller was born September 14, 1956, at Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the daughter of Henry W. and Louise M. (Mehlbrech) Miller.

She grew up in the Salem, South Dakota, area where she started her elementary education and in 1965 the family moved to Philip, South Dakota, where she graduted from Philip High School in 1974.  While in high school, Karen worked as a waitress at the Senechal Cafe until 1972 when she began working as a clerk for Reckling's Hardware Store.

Karen was united in marriage to Bruce T. Williams on July 12, 1974, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Philip.  They made their home in Philip all their married life.

Karen continued to work at the hardware store until July of 1979 when she began her mail carrier route for the U.S. Post Office, a position she held until 1995.

Karen attended the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Philip.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Bruce Williams, of Philip; her son, Jasper Williams of Brookings; her parents, Henry and Louise Miller of Philip; two brothers, Leonard Miller of Salina, Kansas, and Mike Miller and his wife, Debbie, of Philip; seven sisters: Linda Slotts and her husband, Carl, of Missoula, Montana; Rene Konst of Philipl; Vicki Dale and her husband, C.K., of Philip; Joan Fiedler of Missoula, Montana; Mary Lee and her husband, Mike, of Parker, South Dakota; Donna Kroetch and her husband, Brad, of Minot, North Dakota; and Nancy Roehler and her husband, Mark, of Rapid City; and several nieces and nephews; two special friends, Rachael Prouty and Theresa Fortune; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Karen was preceded in death by her grandparents.

A memorial has been established.
