Clifford Buxcel

of Murdo, South Dakota, died on Sunday, July 12, 2015
at the Maryhouse in Pierre at the age of 70

Clifford John Buxcel was born October 20, 1944, in Pierre, South Dakota, the son of Eltor and O’Tillie (Eckert) Buxcel. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church south of Midland. He passed away at the Maryhouse in Pierre on July 12, 2015, with his wife by his side.

He grew up on the family farm milking cows before he went to school. He attended Horse Shoe Bend School grades 1-3, then when the school house was moved it was called Pershing School and Clifford attended grades 4-8 there. He attended Murdo High School graduating in 1962.

On June 7, 1969, he was united in marriage to Elaine Kay Noldner at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. To this union was born two children, Scott and Tonia.

Clifford loved to farm when he bought his first John Deere tractor, a 4430, in 1973.

He also loved to be outdoors as much as possible whether it be fishing, camping, riding his horse Buck, chasing yearlings, hunting deer, antelope, and pheasant with Oscar and Gunner his Golden Retrievers. His greatest hunt was when Cliff and Elaine got his 6 point elk in the Black Hills in 2000. He enjoyed playing first base in softball when Clifford, Norman, and Virgil had a team called CNV Ranch.

He enjoyed his grandchildren Tyler, Rachel, Braden, Avery, Carter, Emily, and Eli and great-granddaughter Brinley. Clifford loved to watch them play sports of any kind.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Elaine, of 46 years; two children, Scott Buxcel of Murdo, South Dakota, and Tonia (Harvey) Jacobs of Murdo; two brothers, Virgil (Susan) Buxcel of Yankton, South Dakota, and Norman Buxcel of Okaton, South Dakota.

Clifford was preceded in death by his father in 1990, his mother in 2004, and his sister, Doris on May 5, 2015.

Visitation was held 5-7 p.m. CDT on Thursday, July 16, at St. Peter Lutheran Church south of Midland, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. CDT.

Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m. CDT Friday, July 17, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, with Pastor Glenn Denke officiating.

Interment was at the St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery.

A memorial has been established.
