Frederick Sitting Up, Sr.of Wanblee, South Dakota, died on Friday, September 28, 2018
|
Fred Sitting Up Sr. Wanbli Wakantuya was born on July 24, 1953, to Richard Sitting Up and Corrine (Bartlett) Sitting Up.
Fred believed in a life of servitude and did his best to walk a path that honored his people’s way of life. Some of the ways Fred did this was as a marine war veteran, tribal police officer, former council representative for his tribe (Oglala Sioux Tribe), treaty counsel representative, and dedicated his life to the Canku Luta. Fred was also a culture bearer and passed along many traditional teachings to our Tiospaye. Our Lakota people will forever feel the loss of this great man who had a huge impact on everyone's life.
