Bobbie Jo Dover

of Casper, Wyoming formerly of Vetal, South Dakota, died on Thursday, May 14, 2020
at her parent's house in Vetal after a battle with cancer at the age of 51

Bobbie Jo Dover, age 51, of Casper, Wyoming formerly of Bennett County, South Dakota passed away on Thursday May 14th, 2020 at her parent’s home surrounded by her loved ones. Her husband and daughters were at her side when she went home to the kingdom of God.

Bobbie Jo was born on November 18th, 1968 in Rapid City, South Dakota to Jack F. Weekes and Paulette M. Mattern. Jack passed away soon after in 1969. Paulette was then married to Daniel “Butch” Fanning on December 18th, 1970. Bobbie was raised in Bennett County with her brothers Jason and Josh. Bobbie graduated in 1987 from Bennett County High School in Martin, South Dakota. She was a softball pitcher, basketball player, volleyball student manager and active in 4H. She attended many class reunions for not only her graduating class but the classes ahead and behind her. She was the life of the party.

Bobbie Jo was blessed with three children with Richard A. Fisher. Justin Alan was born on March 9th, 1988 and sadly passed away from S.I.D.S. on April 13th, 1988. Malesa Jo was born on November 7th, 1989 with Brooke Marie to follow on April 23rd, 1992. She thrived at being a single parent with her fierce love and dedication while maintaining her optimistic and spunky personality.

Bobbie had many talents and chose to attend Black Hills Beauty College in Rapid City, South Dakota. She graduated in 1996 with a true artistic talent for her coloring application. She developed many long-lasting friendships by cutting hair. She moved back to Martin in 1999 and purchased a salon and renamed it “Curl Up and Dye” after her brother Josh’s suggestion. After a year she decided to move back to Rapid City and then onto Las Vegas, Nevada to further her experience in her cosmetology career.

In 2003 she met the love of her life, Michael Lee Dover. They were married on August 20th, 2004 in Unionville, Missouri where Michael was born and raised. They made many memories cruising the backroads, picking wildflowers and hunting for wild mushrooms to cook. Bobbie loved hosting family gatherings and was known for making friends wherever she went. Her home was always open to anyone regardless of who you were. Bobbie loved to cook and serve people while shifting her career back into the restaurant industry.

Bobbie and Michael moved to Casper, Wyoming in 2008 where they settled down to call home. She worked at TJ’s Bar and Grill and was well-known for her wholesome cooking and quick-witted sense of humor. She became an award winner for her taco soup and green chili. She quickly became a local favorite.

In October of 2016 Bobbie was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer. From the time she was diagnosed, her attitude stayed positive and her faith grew. She became a member of St Patrick’s Catholic Church. During this time, she was called to serve the Lord and those presented to her at the oncology facility and the parish. She completed 12 rounds of chemo and was able to ring the bell signaling remission. At her 6 month follow up she received the news that she was now at stage 4 due to the cancer metastasizing to her liver. She was strong enough to endure over 50 rounds of chemo in her 3 ½ year battle all while proclaiming, “I have cancer but the cancer doesn’t have me”.

Bobbie loved watching her Vikings play football and cheering “SKOL”. In September of 2018 she attended the Minnesota Vikings vs. San Fransisco 49er game at the US Bank Stadium. This trip meant the world to her and she was able to check it off of her bucket list with her family! She felt she was given a second chance to experience the things she always wanted to, including traveling. She flew for the first time to Nashville, Tennessee and road tripped to Arizona with family. She also embarked on many mini vacations to the Wyoming, Colorado, and South Dakota area.

Bobbie Jo loved spending time with her family. Her frequently cherished moments were those spent with her Grandbabies, learning to cook, bake, decorate, paint and cuddle in the chair together. She spent her spare time reading, crafting, jamming to 80’s hair bands, second-hand shopping and visiting with friends and family. She enjoyed camping in the mountains and sighting moose. Bobbie loved the outdoors, especially her annual trips to Ryan Park with friends.

Grateful for having shared in her life with her husband, Michael Dover, two daughters, Malesa (Nathan) Novak, Brooke (Eddie) Whiting; six grandchildren, Zakk Fisher, Tristan Novak, Emsley Whiting, Justin Novak, Brecklyn Whiting and Ellidee Whiting; parent’s, Daniel “Butch” and Paulette Fanning; brother’s, Jason (Andrea) Fanning and Josh (Tara) Fanning; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Russell (Kim) Dover, Mark (Susan) Dover and Debra (Chris) Ryals; nieces and nephews, Sabrina, Rhett, Gabe, Laney, Eden and Aris Fanning, Ryan (Peggy) Dover, Nathan Dover, Kaleb (Jenna) Dover, Emily, and Samantha Dover, Ethan, Aiden and Eli Ryals and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Bobbie was proceeded in death by her son, Justin Alan Fisher; father, Jack F. Weekes; grandparent’s, Pete and Gladys Mattern, Jim and Janet Weekes and Cameron and Marcella Fanning; father-in-law, Lonnie Dover and mother-in-law, Berniece Dover.

Bobbie was the most amazing woman I have ever met! She was always happy to see her friends, always upbeat, and was ready to enjoy herself when the opportunity presented itself. Her cooking was second to none and I'll miss her soups and specials at TJ's. Her heart was so big and welcomed everyone into her life. I'm so fortunate to be one of those people she considered a friend. I will miss her. But she will never be forgotten - when I see a moose, when I hear her favorite music, when I watch a Vikings game - I will smile and think of Bobbie. Hugs & Love my friend!!!
