Alice Williams

of Kadoka formerly of Norris, South Dakota, died on Monday, August 31, 2020
at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip at the age of 84

Alice Pearl Willsey Williams was born March 9, 1936 in Kadoka, South Dakota to Nellie (Craven) and Nels A. Willsey. Alice’s education included eight years at Wanblee Public School, two years in Kadoka, and two years at St. Mary’s School for Indian Girls in Springfield, South Dakota, where she graduated in 1954.

Alice attended BHSC for one year. She was employed at Crazy Horse School for 39 years. She graduated from BHSC in 1976 and participated in the Teacher Corp Program.

Alice and Ward were united in marriage on June 18, 1955 and celebrated their 50-year anniversary before Ward died.

Survivors include four children: Steve (Shivaun) Williams of Norris, Janell (Jim) Royle of Utah, Jim (Peg) Williams of Arizona, and Mike (Bridget) Williams of Piedmont, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband Ward Williams on November 10, 2005, parents (Nellie and Nels Willsey), two sisters (Phyllis Livermont and Marilyn Jakeway), and one grandson (William Royle).
