After leaving the ranch Stan and Helen moved to the Black Hills where he continued to run his lumber business and spend quality time with their children and grandchildren.

Stanley is survived by his six children, son David Barber of Rapid City, SD; daughter Teresa (Gary) Hicks of Rapid City, SD; daughter Joan Barber of Sioux Falls, SD; son Danny (Lesa) Barber of Sommerset, SD; daughter, Pat (Shannon) Gartner of Interior, SD; daughter Amy (Bill) Chapman of Blackhawk, SD; eight grandchildren: Will Heltzel, Emmy Heltzel, Lacey (Jeremy) Sheridan, John Kusick, James (Heather) Kusick, Sonnie Gartner, Brett Gartner and Austin Barber; and seven great-grandchildren.

So sorry to hear of Stanley's (Sonny) passing, I have known him since
we were kids. One time he came to my parents house with his father, he found a rope and tied me to the house porch. It cost his dad a nickel to make me stop crying. He is now with your mother. May God help you through this difficult time. God bless all of you, remember we are all praying for the family.

Sorry to hear Stan passed away , we spent many good times with your parents when we were in Martin, and also coffee on Sunday when we came to Longvalley for church, your dad found me someone to make me a star quilt and when I look at it I remember what good friends we had

Pat and family,
I am sorry to hear of the death of your father and grandfather. May God give you comfort during this difficult time.

Sympathy to Stan's family. He called me in August when he lost Helen. That's what neighbors used to do. The wonderful memories I have of the Barber family. I worked for Iona during summers while I attended high school. Attended Mass in Norris every Sunday with Stan and Helen and watched their family grow from one to six children. Good memories of a great neighbourhood and friends such as the Barber family. Great memories and wonderful friends.

Teresa, Gary and family. I never had the honor of meeting your Daddy, but he certainly sounds like a great man...as well as serving our country. I am so sorry for your loss. Take comfort knowing he is with your Mom now. May God watch over all of you. Sending love and prayers.

Our deepest sympathy to the rest of Barber family for the loss of Stan.
We enjoyed them as neighbors and appreciated his help in building our barn. Stan & Helen were great neighbors and will be missed.

Our condolences to the Barber family. We are sorry we were not able to attend the services. We had a nice visit with Stanley at Helen's service. We cannot think of Stanley without remembering our son Scott always calling him, Stanley Got No Thumb. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you.

Sending love and sympathy to all Stan's family. He was always great to visit with when we saw him. He was also a wonderful grandfather to our grandchildren, Sonnie and Brett, as was Helen a wonderful grandmother. May the memories of him sustain you as you go through this time of sorrow. Rest in peace, Stanley.
