Bruce Wayne Fairchild was born May 22, 1941 to Wayne and Ruth (Sherwood) Fairchild. (Written by Bruce). He grew up on a farm by Philip, South Dakota. He found the love of his life, Lois, while going to college in Huron and married her in 1962. He tried farming until 1966 then moved to Seattle and worked for the Boeing Company until early retirement in 1991. He battled Hodgkins disease for 15 years before retirement.

In 1979 Bruce took flying lessons, bought his own plane and flew many hours to South Dakota, Arizona, Vancouver Island and many other places. In February 1988, while flying home at night from Eastern Washington the plane crashed into the mountain near Steven's Pass. Luckily the three on board sustained no injuries. That was the end of his flying. He and his wife bought their first motor home in 1988 and enjoyed traveling to local campgrounds. In 1994, they bought a new motorhome and traveled farther seeing more. In 1998, he battled colon cancer, he got through with only a surgery. In 1999, they bought a new motorhome bus (diesel). In 2000, they took a 9 month trip from Seattle to Boston, to the bottom of Florida to Branson, Missouri and then to Texas and arriving in Santa Barbara by Christmas. They traveled to warmer climates during winter until 2012 when medical conditions ended motorhomeing. He has lived in Bothell for 54 years and has been loved and supported by his wife Lois of 58 years.

They have two children, Janelle (and Brent) Hampton and Todd (and Jennifer) Fairchild and have five grandchildren: Brett (and Ashley) Hampton, Troy Hampton, Todd Jr. (TJ) Fairchild, Shawn Fairchild and Matthew Fairchild. Bruce is also survived by his brother Kent (Nina) Fairchild and sister Marsha (Bill) Sumpter and numerous nieces and great nieces and nephews.
