Paul "Dwight" Finchum

of Kadoka, South Dakota, died on Wednesday, January 18, 2017
at the Rapid City Regional Hospital at the age of 53

Paul “Dwight” Finchum was born June 4, 1963, in Tennessee, the son of Paul K. and Mary (King) Finchum. Dwight grew up in East Tennessee, and attended Sevier County High School. He was a truck driver for over 30 years and had previously worked at Shore trucking in Maryville.

Dwight was united in marriage to Garnet Walker on September 5, 2009. They moved to North Dakota during the oil boom in 2011, where he worked in the oil field as a truck driver. In 2012, they made the decision to get into hotel management and managed three hotels in Dickinson, North Dakota, before moving to South Dakota in 2015, to become managers of Americas Best Value Inn.

He loved to joke and laugh and was very good in the hospitality field. He loved Harleys and missed riding.

He was a grandfather to nine grandchildren whom loved him dearly.

Dwight never met a stranger. He was known to everyone as "Casper" his CB handle when driving a truck. Everyone that came in contact with him loved him and his sense of humor.

Survivors include his wife Garnet of Kadoka; two sons Jesse and Tylor (Sadie) of Tennessee; two step-sons John (Miranda) Fisher of Tennessee, and Joey (Fina) Fisher of Kadoka; nine grandchildren; his mother Mary Bales of Tennessee; and three sisters Kaye, Shirley, and Diane, all of Tennessee; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Dwight was preceded in death by his father Paul and a grandson Nicholas.
