Wanda Hall

of Wasta, South Dakota, died on Monday, May 11, 2020
at the Philip Nursing Home at the age of 72

Wanda Jean Hall, age 72, a long-time resident of the Wasta and Wall, South Dakota areas, died May 11, 2020 at the Philip Nursing Home.

She was born August 18, 1947 in French Camp, California. Wanda was a lifelong beekeeper and partner with her husband Jake from the early 1970’s through the 2000’s. In the 70’s she worked the bees and raised young children near the Monroe, Wisconsin area. The family business relocated to Wasta in the early 1980’s where she stayed active in Wasta happenings and made lifelong friends in the tight knit community. During the long drought period of the late 80’s to early 90’s she took a position as the manager of the Redwood Motel in Wasta. For those tourist filled summers she rented rooms by night and cleaned rooms by day. Wanda loved good food, socializing, playing Yahtzee for money, playing card games off all kinds, and was a better than scratch golfer in Wii Golf which she played every day! She loved cheering for her kids at ball games and especially loved getting time to play with and take care of her grandkids. She loved a good conspiracy theory movie and had a wonderful smile and an infectious laugh.

Survivors include her son Mike (Nicole) Hall and grandsons Haden and Broden of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; daughter Leah Foley of Broadhead Wisconsin; daughter Margie Pasquale of Stockton, California; one brother Harlin DuVall of Manteca, California; sister Fay Kent of Oklahoma; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jacob "Jake" Aaron Hall; mother Elizabeth Winemaster; father John Duvall; and seven siblings: Viola Pritchard, Tom DuVall, Betty Gutierrez, Larry Duvall, Burt Duvall, Dorothy DuVall, and Johnny DuVall.

Mom (aka) Wanda raised me.
I wasn't the Ideal step daughter. I Never Seen Any Truer Pure Love than she had for Jake(aka dad).
I So Truly Loved You! I regret not being the step daughter I shoulda, could've been. My Heart Aches to have not made-up!
I'm Sorry Mom for Everything! Please forgive me, and meet me and take my hand when the Good Lord takes me Home!
I Love You Mom

So very sorry for the loss of your Mom. May she rest in Heaven free of all the physical restraints she endured for so long here on earth. I am thankful for the chance my staff and I had to meet and care for her at Silverleaf. We had some good conversations and many times she shared with me she would be ready to go whenever her good Lord called her home and always said she considered every day a gift. Rest In Peace, Wanda.
