In memory of

Herbert "Randy" Franks

of Philip, South Dakota, died on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at the Philip Nursing Home at the age of 89

Herbert Randall "Randy" Franks was born April 17, 1929, in Swain, Arkansas, the son of Layton D. and Edna Lou (Honder) Franks.

Randy served in the US Army from January 1951 until January of 1953.

He was united in marriage to Helen Marie Omdahl on June 25, 1991, in Miami, Oklahoma. After their marriage, they made their home in Garden City, Missouri and later Sun City, Arizona, where Randy worked as a mechanical engineer at Luke Air Force Base.

They moved back to Philip in July 2015, where they have since resided.

Survivors include two sisters Mary Ann McDaniel of Harrisonville, Missouri, and Wanda McDonald of Blue Springs, Missouri; two nephews Duane McDonald of Kansas City, Missouri, and Marlin McDonald of Prairie Village, Kansas; one sister-in-law Florence Dean of Philip; one brother-in-law Vern Omdahl and his wife Carol of Cottonwood; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Randy was preceded in death by his first wife Darlene; his second wife Helen; a son Keith Randall Franks; an infant son Gary Lynn Franks; his parents; and three brothers Dwight, Carl, and Zane Franks.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 24, at the Rush Funeral Home in Philip, with Pastor Cindy Bisser officiating.

Military graveside rites will be held at the Masonic Cemetery in Philip.
