of Wall, South Dakota, died on Tuesday, January 12, 1999 at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip at the age of 96
Ted E. Hustead was born October 3, 1901, at Phillips, Nebraska, a small town a short distance east of Grand Island, Nebraska, to Dr. C.D. and Alma E. Hustead. He moved with his parents at the age of nine to Aurora, Nebraska, which is in the same county as Phillips.
He graduated from Aurora High School in 1921 and from the College of Pharmacy at the University of Nebraska in 1929.
He married Dorothy Margaret Rush in Colman, South Dakota, on August 12, 1926. They made their home in Sioux Falls and Canova, South Dakota, prior to moving to Wall, South Dakota, in December of 1931.
Ted and Dorothy were the founders of the Wall Drug Store of Wall, South Dakota.
Ted was a 67 year member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Wall.
Ted is survived by his two sons, Bill Hustead of Wall and Charles Hustead of Topeka, Kansas; two daughters, Mary Bottum and Catherine Roe, both of Los Angeles, California; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a niece, Ann McGregor of Keene, California.
Ted was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, on November 4, 1995; a grandson, Jon Hustead in 1977; his parents; three brothers, Charles Hustead, Dwight Hustead and Homer Hustead in infancy; two sisters, Marcy McCullough and Shirley Hustead in infancy; and a son-in-law, Ros Bottum.
