Edgar H. Williams was born the son of John and Margaret (Jones) Williams on May 28, 1901, on a farm near Monroe, Nebraska. At the age of six he moved with his parents to a homestead 16 miles northeast of Philip, South Dakota. He grew up and received his education there.
He was united in marriage to Tressie Manor on July 8, 1928, at Kadoka, South Dakota. They made their home on his parents homestead, and they continued to operate the farm and ranch until retiring and moving into Philip in 1973.
Edgar was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Philip.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Tressie, of Philip; a nephew whom they raised, Dick Williams and his wife, Kay, of Philip; one brother, Ted Williams of Philip; several other nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Edgar was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Morgan Williams, and one sister, Ethel Breemes.
