• Dear Byrd family...I'm truly sorry to hear that Harvey has passed away. It was an honor and a privilege to know him. I have many good memories of Harvey, from working with him and Larry to buying baseball cards. He was a stand up man that wI'll never be forgotten. ~ Robert Davidson (11/3/2016)
• Dear Byrd Family, We are saddened to hear the news of Harvey's passing. Harvey and Karen both gave of themselves to make Kadoka a fun place for kids to grow up. We remember one Saturday morning in Sioux Falls when we ran into your family having breakfast. Harvey was the one who recognized us first and it was so fun seeing you all and visiting. Also, Harvey was quick to recognize Megan when she was cutting his hair at Super Cuts. I was impressed because Megan looks very different from her time in Kadoka. • Harv was so funny, I remember for years I would go visit my grandma at the court house and Harvey was always there to pick on me, he was at every sporting event that was in Kadoka. • So sorry to hear of his passing! Harvey was.always a super nice guy to everybody he was around. I played many years of softball against him and he was always a competitor every time and seem to always make his team better when he was playing. He will definitely be missed for everything he did for the community and what he did for all his many family and friends. He truly was one of a kind man who I was friends with.   I just heard the sad, sad, news of Harvey's passing. I have no words to tell you how sorry I am. The pain is overwhelming right now but wrap yourselves with your happy memories. Growing up I spent a lot of time at your house and I enjoyed every minute of it! There was laughter, a lot of laughter and that was so special to me. Even as adults I would laugh until I cried listening to the pranks Harvey and Tammy pulled on each other. Your family will always have a special place in my heart. There are no quick tricks to get through grief, you have no choice but to feel the pain, and get through each day keeping the happy memories alive in your heart.
