of Rapid City, South Dakota, died on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at Denver Health Medical Center in Denver, Colorado at the age of 22
Sean Matthew Schultes possessed an adventurous nature and restless soul that led him many places in his lifetime. He was born on March 14, 2003, in Prescott, Arizona and moved to Spearfish, South Dakota with his family in 2004. After graduating from Philip High School, he attended Black Hills State University. He then worked at Sandstone Senior Living and developed his gift of working with the elderly. Most recently, Sean worked as a painter, owning his own company, Brushes, LLC.
Sean loved the outdoors: hiking, hunting, annual fishing trips with his dad, and snowboarding. He often talked about his Montana elk hunting adventures with his stepfather (Jeremy Rear). He was known for being a jokester, the life of the party, and a friend to everyone. His generous spirit and bright smile touched countless lives, leaving a lasting impact on his community and all who knew him. His love of children was evident in time spent with his little brother, sisters, nephews, and niece.
Sean is lovingly remembered by his parents Jeremy (Holly) Schultes of Hot Springs and Laura (Jeremy) Rear of Helena, MT; siblings Allison Jones and her husband Dillon, Reagan and Aaron Schultes, nephews Liam and Ledger Jones, niece Lainey Jones, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, and many friends.
A celebration of life service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 21, at Countryside Church in Spearfish.
In lieu of flowers, family asks that donations be made in Sean’s memory to Focus on the Family: https://donate.focusonthefamily.com/ffapl-25ye?refcd=2372405
