In memory of

Betty Bryan

of Mitchell, South Dakota, died on Friday, December 20, 2024 at the Aurora-Brule Nursing Home in White Lake at the age of 93

Betty Grace Votroubek Bryan was born on February 25, 1931 in Philip, South Dakota. She grew up on the farm north of Quinn and attended country school. Betty graduated as Valedictorian from Quinn High School in 1949.

Betty married the love of her life, Eldon Bryan, on December 31, 1949. They made their home at the farm until Eldon was drafted into the Army. Their son David was born while Eldon was serving in Korea. After Eldon's discharge they made their home in Rapid City where Betty was employed at a finance company. They bought their first dry cleaner at the Villa Ranchero. They continued in the cleaning business in Rapid City and Arizona and for a brief time the family owned Rolling Pin Bakery until their retirement in 1997.

Betty was a member of the Canyon Lake Methodist Church and served as membership secretary for many years.

In 2016 Betty moved to Mitchell to be closer to her niece, Susie Cuppy, and all of her "honorary great-grandkids" as she called them, but to them she was and always will be Grandma Betty.

Survivors include nephews: Mike Bryan, Al Bryan, Dick Rockafellow, and Bruce (Nancy) Votroubek; nieces: Stacey (David) Jackson, Cathy (Curtis) Schmidtlein, Tammie (Gale) Crown, Linda McGivern, and Susie (Don) Cuppy, and all Families; great-grandchildren: Dillon (Sierra Smidt) Cuppy, Emilia Cuppy, Payton Grace Cuppy, Izzy Cuppy, Abby Cuppy, Taylor Cuppy, Brooklyn Zediker, and Brystol Zediker; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Eldon Bryan on May 31, 1999; her son Dr. David Bryan and his wife Quenelle; and her parents Emil and Marjorie (Miller) Votroubek; brothers George and Amos Votroubek; sister Lucille Monroe; several brothers and sisters-in-law; and her nephew Al Votroubek.

If you would like to make a donation to your local animal rescue center in Betty's name, she would be honored.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 30, at the Rush Funeral Chapel in Wall with Pastor Justin Trent officiating.

Interment will follow at the Wall Cemetery.
