of Midland, South Dakota, died on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip at the age of 72
Katherine Marie Bowie, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and devoted friend, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2024, in Philip, South Dakota. She was born on December 22, 1951, in Baltimore, Maryland, the oldest of three children born to Paul and Mary Agnes (Bosse) Selepack.
Katherine lived in Midland, South Dakota, where she and her husband, Ken, embraced the full-time RV lifestyle. They spent the last six summers working at the Belvedere East KOA, owned by Robert and Lisa Wice, who became more like family than employers. Katherine was an extraordinary dog groomer, dedicating 55 years to her craft, where she not only cared for countless furry friends but also built lasting relationships within her community. Her passion for animals was matched only by her love for the outdoors; she was an avid cowgirl and gardener, finding joy in the beauty of nature and the simplicity of country life.
She is survived by her loving husband, Ken; her daughter, Rebecca Schoeffield, and her longtime boyfriend, Danny Lease; her cherished grandson, Cody Schoeffield; and her beloved brothers, Dennis and David Selepack. Katherine was a devoted grandma to so many, always offering her warmth, wisdom, and love to those around her.
Katherine was preceded in death by her parents.
Katherine's vibrant spirit and nurturing heart will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of kindness and dedication will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
A celebration of Katherine's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to assist with granting her wish to have her ashes spread by her daughter, by horseback, in the state she loved and called home, South Dakota.
Rest in peace, Katherine. Your love and light will forever remain in our hearts.
