In memory of

Gloria Hansen

of Philip, South Dakota, died on Friday, June 18, 2021 at her home in Philip at the age of 70

Gloria Susan Schofield Hansen was born on November 17, 1950.

Gloria had three siblings, all older - Linda Snook, Allen Schofield, and Dean Schofield. She is preceded in death by her oldest brother Dean and her parents, Clarence and Lucille Schofield of Milesville, SD.

Gloria taught school for several years after graduating from Black Hills State College. She met David Hansen, and the two were married in October of 1975. From this marriage were born their daughters Sheridan Dawn and Emily Eve Hansen, “Splatface”, both determined and persevering just like their momma.

Gloria also had two beautiful grandchildren, Tsagaanbars and Cecelia, the children of Sheridan. Sheridan was wed to Jason Schaefer in September of 2019, and Gloria then gained another grandchild, Elsie. Gloria’s daughter Emily also had a special fur baby named Schnitzel.

Gloria was very creative and talented. She made clothing, blankets, towels, curtains, Christmas stockings, aprons, and many more beautiful items. When her daughters were small, they were frequently dressed in matching dresses that she had made.

In present time, Gloria loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. Both Tsagaanbars and Cecelia are very active in music, and she would travel to Rapid City and watch their performances.

Gloria also had friends that were as close as family. She met new people with every move, and rarely met a stranger. Many people from many places have reached out for our precious mother. These gestures and kindnesses have been very comforting.

There are no words to fill the void that is left with Gloria gone from this world. We know that she rests now with Jesus as well as her brother and parents, and the difficulties of our world are left behind.
We miss her.

Per Gloria's wishes, cremation will take place and no services are planned at this time.
