Samantha Huston Weems
of Philip, South Dakota, died on Friday, September 25, 2026 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls at the age of 31
Samantha Jarman Huston was born November 3, 1994, in Rapid City, South Dakota, the second of three children born to Doug and June (Jarman) Huston. She attended grade school in Midland through the 5th grade before attending Philip. While in Midland, Samantha was a Midland Tumbler, and won the state 4-H BB gun shoot. Her dad said they had a trap line from home to Midland which they checked on their way to school. As a 5th grader, she began school at Philip, graduating from Philip High School in 2013.
Her favorite part of high school was FCCLA. She was also in choir and basketball until a knee injury ended her career.
After graduation she attended Black Hills State University and later graduated from Mitchell Tech as a radiology technologist. After her schooling, she began her career at Philip Health Services in 2018, and later began work at the Wanblee Clinic in 2021. At the end of July 2026, she began working at Black Hills Orthopedic & Spine Center in Rapid City.
Samantha was united in marriage to Bailey Weems on October 26, 2024, in Wall, South Dakota. They made their home in Philip, with their two corgis Walt and Cady.
Samantha was very artistic, painting skulls and drawing. She enjoyed fishing and hunting with her dad, and cooking for her family and friends. Her family and her friends were her everything, and she would help anyone that needed help, no matter the time or day.
Survivors include her husband Bailey Weems of Philip; her parents Doug and June Huston of Midland; brother Spencer Huston and his wife Myra of Mandan, North Dakota; sister Sarah Huston of Philip; paternal grandmother Ruby Huston of Philip; mother-in-law Amy Moser of Baudette, Minnesota; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; a host of other relatives and friends.
Samantha was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Dale and Joyce Jarman; her paternal grandfather Huey Huston; and her favorite childhood dog Lucky!
Visitation will be from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, at the American Legion Hall in Philip.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 2, at the Philip Fine Arts Building with Pastor Cindy Bisser officiating.
Private family interment will be at the Nowlin Cemetery.
