In memory of

Jerri Moon-Hubel

of Montevideo, Minnesota, died on Monday, August 1, 2022 in Montevideo at the age of 77

Geraldine (Jerri) Ann Moon-Hubel, 77, of Montevideo was reunited with her Lord and Savior on Monday, August 1, 2022.

Jerri was born in Pipestone, Minnesota to John and Patricia (West) Knuth on August 22, 1944. While in middle school, her family moved to Tracy where she later graduated from Tracy High School. Following high school, Jerri spent time in Puerto Rico taking care of her aunt’s children. She then moved to Minneapolis and worked as a bank teller. Jerri married John Moon Jr. in 1966 and they had four children together. They lived in Windom, MN during the early years of their marriage. In 1968, they moved to Montevideo where Jerri again worked as bank teller before staying at home to raise her most favorite and best-ever children. While her children where growing, Jerri completed her CNA training and later obtained her LPN degree in 1983. In 1987, she returned to school and obtained her RN degree from Willmar Community College in May of 1988.

Jerri had a compassion for the elderly and loved her work at Luther Haven in Montevideo where she was employed for 37 years. She also worked part-time for Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital and Arneson Drug. Everyone who knew Jerri will remember her kindness, generosity, thoughtfulness, and making sure everyone felt welcome in her home. She was quick-witted, had a lot of spunk and style, and was always up for a good laugh.

On December 3, 1999, she was united in marriage to David Hubel. They spent 22 happy years together traveling, hosting dinners and parties, motorcycling, and playing cards. Their happiest times together were spent at their cabin on Lake Scandinavia (Scandi) where they loved to host their families.

Jerri was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Montevideo. She enjoyed reading, quilting, and traveling with her sisters, friends, and Dave. She loved happy hours with friends and enjoyed her birthday club and book club. Jerri was an avid quilter and made many beautiful quilts for family and friends. Most of all she enjoyed her children and grandchildren and cherished the time she could spend with them.

Jerri is survived by her husband: David Hubel; children: Jacque (Terry) Peters, Andy (Lisa) Moon, Jenece (Jesse) Diedrich, JT (Jami) Moon; step-children: Heather (Jay) Coleman, Heidi (Ken) Krull; grandchildren: Mattison (Glenn) Dirksen, Phillip (Nicole) Peters, Macy (Tucker Mills) Peters, Elle Moon, Abby (Hayden Pelton) Moon, Quinn Moon; Joseph and Charlie Diedrich, Lucy, Emmy, Johnny, and Ole Moon, Jaycie Coleman, Gage and Grayden Krull; great-grandchildren: Stella and Mo Dirksen, Georgia Peters, Josie Mills, Ada Pelton; siblings: Katy Koehler, Jo Ellyn (Loren) Pihl, John (Rose) Knuth, Sue (Jeff) Ackerman, Lulu (Jose) Velasco, Jeff (Deb) Knuth as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Jerri was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Jim and Doug.

Visitation with the family will be held from noon to 2:00 p.m. at the church on the day of the service.

Jerri’s memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Montevideo with burial the following day in Tracy, MN.
