In memory of

James "Jim" Haddock

of Rapid City, South Dakota, died on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Monument Health in Rapid City at the age of 88

Jim went to be with his Savior, Jesus, on February 11, 2025 at Monument Health Rapid City Hospital.

James Duane Haddock was born on September 9, 1936 in Rushville, Nebraska to Robert D. Haddock and Elsie (Madsen) Haddock.


Jim graduated from Midland High School and attended Black Hills State College, receiving his Bachelor's degree. He attended radio broadcast school in Portland, Oregon before beginning a teaching career. After initially teaching at the school in Milesville, South Dakota, he moved to Gordon, Nebraska where he taught for many years. During this time, he received his Master's degree along with his mother, in the same graduation ceremony. Continuing his education, Jim attained his guidance counseling certification and served in that capacity at Kanesville School in Council Bluffs, Iowa, before retiring in 1999.

During his life, Jim enjoyed participating in Bible studies at his church, playing golf, and watching and talking baseball, especially when it involved his favorite team, the Chicago Cubs.

He is survived by his brother Robert (Sheila) Haddock of Omaha, Nebraska; niece Molly (Mark) Fratzke of Peosta, Iowa and their children Maisie and Max; nephew Alex Haddock of Omaha, Nebraska; cousins Kim Bierle of Pierre and Kory (Robin) Bierle of Midland and their children.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother and cousin Janice (James) Bierle.

Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 17, 2025 at the Midland Cemetery with Pastor Kathy Chesney officiating.
