Debra J. "Debbie" Kernick was born May 7, 1959 to Phillip and Dorothy Shedeed (Doering) in Gregory, South Dakota.

Debbie met Scott Jones online in September 2022 and later started dating. Debbie married Scott Jones on May 3, 2025.

Debbie owned and operated “Debbie’s Cakes and Floral” in Gordon, Nebraska for over 17 years. She enjoyed baking and delivering cakes to many people over a wide area. Later she became a receptionist at H & R Block until her retirement.

Debbie enjoyed gardening and quilting, but her greatest joy was the arrival of her first grandchild, Bohdi.

Survivors include her daughter, Shay (Carson) Fuchser; husband, Scott Jones; sisters, Noreen (Eric) Anderson, Sharon (Steve) Judd, Marcia (Joe) Vinton, Glenda (Mike) Davis; grandson, Bohdi Fuchser; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; late husband, Scott Kernick; and niece, Melanie Bourne.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 28, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Midland with Pastor Cindy Bisser officiating.

Interment will be held 11:00 a.m. MST Tuesday, September 2, at the Gordon Cemetery in Gordon, Nebraska.
