of Wall, South Dakota, died on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 south of Wall due to an automobile accident at the age of 20
Keith Olin Brummet was born December 30, 2004 in Kearney, Nebraska to Krystle Odell-Pursley and Steven Brummet. After lots of moves Keith and his mother settled in Wall, South Dakota in September 2017. Keith was quickly welcomed into the community and became well known around town. Keith started attending the Wall Schools in 7th grade and participated in track, football, wrestling, baseball, basketball, trap shooting, and drama before graduating in May 2023. Throughout high school Keith worked at Wall Food Center where he became completely enmeshed in the community. At the time of his passing, he was living with his mother and stepfather in Wall. Keith was still working for Wall Food Center where he enjoyed helping and engaging with everyone in the community. Keith had a heart of gold and would stop and help anyone regardless of what he had going on. There are many stories and comments about how helpful, considerate, generous, compassionate, caring, and good mannered he was. Every time Keith’s mother heard these wonderful comments from members of the community, they amazed and humbled her.
In Keith’s spare time he enjoyed cooking, fishing, and getting his hands dirty doing manual labor. On his days off he was often out helping people with general items around their homes. Some things which have been shared the last few days include, Keith was always so kind and stopped and talked with me no matter where he saw me. He had a huge heart and would help anyone in need. His coaches knew him as the kid who would be one of the last ones to leave after games and practice because he helped put equipment away and clean up the area or vehicles. One of his coaches said, “Keith was the kind of player every coach hopes to have, and every teammate is better for knowing. Keith’s selflessness and true Eagle spirit will live on in all of us who had the joy of coaching him”.
His passing leaves a huge hole in the lives he touched, and he will be greatly missed.
Keith leaves behind his mother Krystle Pursley and stepfather Jay Pursley of Wall; grandmother Dee Odell and aunt and uncle Steve and Jodie Spade of Pittsburgh, PA; aunt Angie Odell of Horse Creek, KY; half-sister and husband Angel and Donald Mayland of Denver, CO; and countless friends and other family.
Keith was preceded in death by his grandfather Craig Odell and his father Steven Brummet.
The family has requested that in lieu of any plants, flowers, or monetary donations, please donate any funds to the Keith Brummet Memorial Scholarship at First Interstate Bank in Wall.
