Carol Hahn

of Rapid City, formerly of Wall, South Dakota, died on Saturday, July 2, 2022
at her home in Rapid City at the age of 83

Miriam “Carol” (English) was born on March 30, 1939, in New Underwood, South Dakota, to Ron and Miriam English and was raised on the family farm south of New Underwood with siblings Jim (Gloria) English and Cathy (Charlie) Berry.

In 1959 she married Lloyd Fred Richter and they made their home in Enning, South Dakota before moving to Wall where they raised their three children together, Mitchell (Julie) Richter, Shannon Schaefers, and Londa Richter. Fred and Carol were proud to be parent figures to help raise their nephew Loch Alsgaard.

After the death of Fred in 1991, Carol married Dave Hahn and enjoyed supporting the United Methodist Church and volunteering in the Wall Community before Dave’s passing in 2018.

Carol loved all kinds of music. She accompanied many students in music contests, Cantatas, the church choir, and played the piano and organ for the Wall United Methodist Church. She enjoyed setting out her lawn chair to listen to the Rapid City Municipal band after she moved to Rapid City.

When Carol wasn’t playing or listening to music, she could be found dancing the needle around a quilt. The Quilt Club in Wall brought her much joy.

Carol was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She attended basketball, football, wrestling matches, soccer games, band and orchestra concerts and dance routines supporting her seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 8, at the Methodist Church in Wall with Pastor Russell Masartis officiating. A private graveside service will precede the services at the New Underwood Cemetery.

A music scholarship memorial will be established in the name of Dave and Carol Hahn.
