Reuben B. Vollmerof Midland, South Dakota, died on Monday, January 18, 2010

Reuben Vollmer was born in 1927 on the family homestead in rural Mellette County near White River, South Dakota. He graduated from the eighth grade from a county school located on the White River.
He married Iris Krogman on September 5, 1948 at Murdo. He lived in Mellette County, Murdo, rural White Lake, Midland, Philip and Philip Nursing Home.
Reuben owned and operated Vollmer Trucking, Vollmer Auctioneer, Vollmer Custom Combining and Vollmer Real Estate. He also managed his farm ground. He was a talented musician and played at many dances around the area. He was a long time member of the Midland Volunteer Fire Department and the Trinity Lutheran Church of Midland. Throughout his life he was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends and strangers alike. He maintained his wonderful sense of humor and always had a good joke to tell with a smile on his face.
Survivors include his loving companion Fern Konst, daughter Joyce Williamson and husband Greg of Rapid City; two sons Reuben Vollmer Jr. and his wife Pat of Midland, and Charlie Vollmer and his wife Patti; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Philip and Carolina (Buxcel) Vollmer, four sisters, eight brothers and his wife.
In accordance with his wished there will be no funeral, a memorial service will conducted at the Trinity Lutheran Church at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 22, 2010.
The family request no memorials be sent to the family, anyone wishes to make donations in memory of Reuben B. Vollmer please send them directly to the Midland Senior Citizen Center.
He was a wonderful man. “Dad. Dad. No Response. Gone but not Forgotten.”
