Wilma Uhlir

of Kadoka, South Dakota, died on Saturday, July 27, 1996
at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip at the age of 78

Wilma Peters was born April 4, 1918, at Okaton, South Dakota, to Fred and Ethel (Dobbin) Peters.

She grew up in the Okaton area and graduated from Okaton High School in 1936.  She then attended nurses training at Chamberlain, South Dakota.  In the fall of 1938 Wilma moved to Kadoka where she worked for Frank and Mae Hafner at the Dakota Hotel.

Wilma was united in marriage to Stanley "Hook" Uhlir on September 6, 1929, at Kadoka.  They lived on the Uhlir Ranch until 1945 when they moved into Kadoka, where she has since resided.

While in Kadoka, Wilma worked at various jobs, incluging the Kadoka Hospital and later as the administrator of the Kadoka Care Center, a position she held until retiring.

Her husband, Stanley, preceded her in death on November 5, 1983.

Wilma was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Kadoka.

Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter, Athene Eberlein and her husband, Delvin, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; three grandchildren: Peggy Falch and her husband, MIchael, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; Gregory Eberlein of Sunnyvale, California; and Christopher Eberlein of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; two great-grandchildren: Amanda and Ryan Falch, both of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; six brothers: Clyde Peters of Soap Lake, Washington; Olin Peters of Pierre; Fredy Peters of Kadoka; Allen Peters of Murdo; and Dale and Alvin Peters, both of Rapid City; three sisters: Betty Borders of Littleton, Colorado, Grace Carney of Los Lunas, New Mexico, and Ethel "Blouie" Oldenkamp of Okaton; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Stanley Uhlir, Wilma was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Fred, who died in infancy.
