Janis I. Beachof Wall, South Dakota, died on Wednesday, May 19, 1993

Janis I. Kauffold was born November 30, 1924, at Detroit, Michigan, to Ralph and Ruby (Bradley) Kauffold. She grew up and received her education in the Jackson, Michigan, area.
Janis was united in marriage to Myron D. Beach on November 2, 1942, in Augola, Indiana. They made their home in the Michigan area until 1945 when they moved to Rapid City, South Dakota.
They worked together in food related business, first managing Beach's Bunwich Shop in Rapid City from 1945 until 1946. Then they worked at the Rodeo Grill, which his brother operated until 1948 at which time they worked for Don Hall's Esquire Club, Myron as the chef and Janis as a waitress. From 1949 until 1953 they leased and operated the White Tower Drive Inn.
In 1953 they moved to Wall where they started the Cactus Cafe. In continues today as the Cactus Cafe and Lounge.
After her husband Myron's death on February 8, 1975, she continued to reside in Wall.
Janis was a member of the Wall Methodist Church.
Grateful for having shared her life are her two sons, Myron Beach and his wife, Kathy, of Wall; Doc Beach and his wife, Mary, of Denver, Colorado; two daughters, Diane Brown and her husband, Kenneth, of White House, Tennessee, and Terri Lynne Beach of Lafayette, Colorado; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Carl Kauffold of East Lansing, Michigan; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Myron, she was preceded in death by one grandson, David Michael Beach, and her parents.
