Florence Glassgow

of Wall, South Dakota, died on Wednesday, July 17, 2024
at the Good Samaritan Center in New Underwood at the age of 96

Florence I. Pearson was born March 30, 1928 to Axel and Lenna (Miles) Pearson. She had four brothers, two sisters, and one step-brother. She was united in marriage to DeWayne E. Glassgow in Philip, SD on November 28, 1946. They started their married life in a sheepherder wagon in Pedro, SD working for DeWayne's uncle. They moved many times but always ended up in Lead where DeWayne worked at the Homestake Mine. In Lead is where DeWayne A. (1948), Alma (1951), and Cindy (1954) were born. Their last and final move was to Wall in October 1958 when they purchased Wall Propane, and their final daughter Sandra was born in 1959.

They had other businesses in Wall including Wall Conoco and De's Cafe. Florence continued to operate De's Oil until July 2007 at which time it was sold to Sandra and Alvin.

Survivors include children Sandra and Alvin Eisenbraun of Wall; DeWayne A. and Nance Glassgow of Rapid City; Alma and Ross Clodfelter and Cindy and Ray Williams all of Hillsboro, IN; grandchildren: Diana Wood, JJ Pyle, Misty Robinson (Jason), Tatum Bassick (Matthew), Tim Pyle, DeWayne Clodfelter (Jean Marie), Nicholas Geigle (Andria), Denise Gilliland (Matt), DeeDee Bresee (Eric), Kalvin Eisenbraun (Heather), Brittany Bryant (Bill), and Darick Eisenbraun (Caryn); step-grandchildren: Tim Williams, Carrie Bergstrom, and William Roberts; great-grandchildren: Courtney Wood (Emma Wood-Horner), Cassandre Wood (Jon Murphee) Dusty Robinson, Riley Robinson, Reese Robinson, Amalya Bassick, Jezibelle Bassick, Paisley Pyle, John Clodfelter, Ethan Geigle (Chloe), Ashlynn Geigle, Logan Geigle, Maggie Gilliland, Ryan Gilliland, Victoria Williams, Damion Bresee (Hanna Reischl), Kaydence Eisenbraun, Karlie Eisenbraun, Molly Bryant, Macy Bryant, Collins Eisenbraun, and Emma Eisenbraun; great-great-grandchildren: Maive Geigle and baby Geigle due in February; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband DeWayne; all her siblings and their spouses; her parents; and mother-in-law Alma Glassgow.

Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2024 at the Rush Funeral Chapel in Wall. Interment will then follow the visitation at the Wall Cemetery with Pastor Jake Julson officiating.

We are thinking of all you folks. Even though we all know that Florence was ready to go, it is still hard to let them go. We have many wonderful memories of Florence, of course Les has many more because she was his aunt. She was a very special lady, she was so proud of her families. Hold on to all the memories.
