Jo Ann J. Moyer, a resident of Vail, AZ, died Monday March 4, 2024, at Haven Health Nursing Home in Green Valley, AZ. She was 93 years of age.

Jo Ann Moyer was born on June 26, 1930, in Stamford, South Dakota, the eldest daughter of John Spinsby and Isabelle Myers. She grew up on the Spinsby family ranch, near Stamford, South Dakota, and developed a life-long love of dogs and horses. She married David M. Moyer (Glen, NE) on September 2, 1952, a union that produced 2 sons, Michael D. Moyer and Mark J. Moyer. She was preceded in death by both her parents, her brothers Jack M. Spinsby and Billy L. Spinsby, and her sister Ethel I. Freeman. She is survived by her sons and their wives (Michael & Kimberlea and Mark & Ann), a granddaughter and her husband (Jonathan & Laurine Wiertel), two great grandsons (Joshua & Tyler Wiertel), and too numerous to count nieces and nephews.

Jo Ann and her family moved around the Midwest in her early marriage, with residences in Nebraska, South Dakota, and Iowa. In August 1971, the family relocated to Tucson, AZ. She resided in the Tucson area for over 52 years, until her death. Even though she spent more than half of her life in Arizona, she never lost her love of Western South Dakota.

Jo Ann worked in the insurance industry for over 40 years, with most of her employment being with State Farm©, as an insurance clerk. She determined early in her working career, that she had a real knack for that type of work.

Jo Ann was able to enjoy many vacations with her oldest son (Michael) and his wife (Kimberlea). Over the years, the three of them traveled to many places in the United States and British Columbia, including Hawaii; as well as attending numerous Moyer bi-annual family reunions.

Jo Ann had a real love for flowers, listening to country & western music, watching figure skating and watching Chicago Cubs© baseball. She was able to enjoy these activities for many years.

She will be missed terribly and remembered fondly by all who know her. She was prepared to go, satisfied with her life and is now with her dear Spinsby family together with Jesus.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 5, at Rush Funeral Home in Philip with Pastor Cindy Bisser officiating.
