LaVonne Andersonof Rapid City, South Dakota, died on Friday, August 20, 2021
|
LaVonne Anderson of Rapid City, SD was born and raised with her four brothers in Pierre, SD on June 12th, 1949 to Paul and Violet Bechard. Pierre is also where she met and married her husband of nearly 51 years, Dennis Anderson on September 5th, 1970.
Soon after, they moved to Wall, SD where they raised their two children and began their entrepreneurial careers in the restaurant business. Working hard was a family affair and something she was an excellent example of. She “retired” from the restaurants after 18 years and began a new career at Golden West where she worked for another 15 years.
Outside the restaurants, you would most likely find LaVonne at one of her children’s many activities as she didn’t miss one. She was always their number one fan. She also loved to travel, and family vacations were a staple. She loved the ocean most of all but was always ready to hit the road so long as family was there.
Grandma is the name she was most frequently called for the last 29 years. Her seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren kept her busy attending their many activities and led to even bigger family vacations. Grandma’s annual school shopping trip was a highlight of her year.
Her 14 month battle with pancreatic cancer was blessed with numerous family affairs which she always looked forward to and provided the fuel she needed for the fight. She passed on August 20th, 2021 at her second home in LaVista, NE in the company of family.
Survivors include her husband Dennis Anderson, two brothers: David Bechard, wife Judy and Roy Bechard, wife Diana, two children: Chad Anderson, wife Shawna, and Shelly Nikodym, husband Jeff, seven grandchildren: Michaela Anderson, Bradan Anderson, Ethan Anderson, Nolan Anderson, Grace Anderson, Anderson Nikodym and Addilyn Nikodym, and two great grandchildren: Meyer Drentlaw and Layla Anderson.
She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Merle Bechard and Loran Lundahl.
Visitation will be held one hour preceding the services at the church.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 26, at the United Methodist Church in Wall.
Interment will be at the Wall Cemetery.
