Pete Fergusonof Norris, South Dakota, died on Tuesday, September 19, 2023
|
Peter I. Ferguson was born in Kadoka, South Dakota on June 14, 1972. He was the second oldest out of four children of Ed and Carol Ferguson. He went to elementary school in Mission South Dakota for some of his younger years then he transferred to Prairieview School part of White River District. He graduated from White River High School in May 1990 while in high school he met his high school sweetheart Marla Wooden Knife. After high school he pursued his semi-trucking business Pete Ferguson Trucking and also started Pete Ferguson Ranch. While he trucked for 26 years he traveled all over the United States hauling cattle. In the summer of 2008 he rekindled their love with his high school sweetheart Marla at the Wooden Knife mud race they started dating. Two months later the couple got married on September 19th 2008 in White River Courthouse. The couple had been together for 15 years when he passed on Tuesday.
He was one of the most genuine loving men you would ever meet. Pete had a good sense of humor and was such a hard-working man. His family was his favorite part of life. He woke up early every day and started working on the ranch and would come in later to enjoy time with his wife and grandchildren, also taking a nap. He was always such a remarkably strong person, that anyone who had an encounter with him enjoyed his presence. We will truly miss him every day and carry him in our hearts forever.
Survivors include his wife Marla of Norris; a daughter Olivia Wooden Knife (Cole Iyotte) of Norris; a son Michael Grass, Jr. of Norris; grandchildren Cole Jr., Colton, Carter and Makenna Iyotte, Dennessa Red Elk, Dennis Wooden Knife, James Red Elk, Jovanna Rodriguez, Mae Wilcox, William, NaTalia, Paisley and Bayn Elliott; his mother Carol Ferguson of Norris; two brothers Jesse Ferguson of Norris, and Cole Ferguson of Rapid City; a sister Cora Brickman and her husband Scott of Black Hawk; brother in-law Waylon Wooden Knife of Rapid City; nieces Kaitlyn Ferguson, Moya Brickman, Suni Wooden Knife, and Shelley Wilcox; aunts and uncles: Chuck (Patsy) Ferguson, Irwin (Patsy) Ferguson, Owen (Bonnie) Ferguson, Chloe (Larry) Wiginton, and Clathy (Daniel) Renteria; and a host of other relatives and friends.
