Ronald LeRoy Hulce was born November 29, 1950, to Emmer and Amy (Vernon) Hulce. Ron spent most of his childhood in Midland, South Dakota, graduating from Midland High School in 1970.
While attending a dance in Kadoka, he met the love of his life, Lola Lee Hamilton. They were married December 14, 1970, and to this union three girls were born: Dorothy, Amber and Jean. They made their home of north of Midland where Ron worked as a ranch-hand for Tipp Hamilton.
Ron and Lola moved to Philip in 1980 where Ron worked at Scotchman Industries for several years. He then took a job with Hveem Construction servicing grain elevators. After years of travel he started with Baye and Sons in 1988, where he continued until his retirement. After his retirement, to pass the time, Ron drove the bus for Haakon County Prairie Transportation.
Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing and blowing up prairie dogs.
Survivors include his three daughters Dorothy “Dodie” Heinrich of Rapid City; Amber (Nate) Pittman of Greenwood, Indiana, and Jean (Bill) Hanson of Pukwana; seven grandchildren Connor, Brennen, Aylee, Darren, Hannah, Janie and Sara; three great-grandchildren Gabriel, Joshua, and Oliver; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Ron was preceded in death by his wife Lola on December 5, 2013; his parents; a brother Terry; and a grandson Joshua.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 1, at the United Church in Philip, with Pastor Kathy Chesney officiating.
The graveside service will follow the luncheon at the Midland Cemetery.
