Cheri Lynn Heeb

of Midland, South Dakota, died on Thursday, February 16, 2017

Cheri Lynn Moe was born April 17, 1957, in Mitchell, South Dakota, the daughter of Earl and Margaret (Blakeslee) Moe. She was the last of their three children, joining her brothers Roy Allen and Walter. She attended Hanson High School and graduated in 1975.

She then went to South Dakota State University where she met Dean Heeb. The two were married in 1977. Cheri and Dean then moved to the Heeb family ranch in the Ottumwa, South Dakota area where they welcomed and raised four children; Matthew Lloyd in 1979, Dawn Maria in 1983, Rose Anna in 1986 and Cecil Patrick in 1990.

Cheri was active in Eastern Star for many years, she taught CCD classes at St Williams in Midland and served as a 4-H Leader. Cheri was very also involved in her children’s lives, supporting and encouraging them in 4-H, rodeo, wrestling, track, cross county, band, choir, drama, pageants and FFA.

Cheri enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading and being a grandma. She worked at the Philip Nursing Home for 14 years, first as a CNA and then as the Activities Coordinator. She touched the lives of countless people and was an incredibly giving and selfless person. She will be greatly missed as a wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Survivors include her husband, Dean Heeb of Midland; two sons, Matt (Shara) Heeb of Mandan, ND, and Cecil Heeb of Wall; two daughters, Dawn (John) Schwinler of Brookings, and Rose (Austin) O'Brien of Madison; four grandchildren, Riley, Anora, and Xavier Schwinler, and Sean O'Brien; one brother, Walter (Bonita) Moe of Rapid City; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Sincere sympathy to you Dean, Matt, Dawn, Rose, and Cecil. Cheri & I had some good times working at the nursing home. She was especially proud of her family. We exchanged lots of "grandkids" stories. You will all be in our prayers.

This lovely lady was sick for a long time, but pressed on and came to work as if nothing was wrong. She had so much creativity and so many wonderful ideas to share with the residents when she was activities coordinator, but she just didn't have enough strength or time to do all the great things she wanted. I enjoyed working with her and we had some good times when we went to meetings for the facility for long term care. May God wrap His loving arms around you during this time of sorrow and know that she is in peace.

I am so sorry to see you have lost your dear one. I send sincerest sympathy. There will come a quiet time and I hope you will remember this; our Heavenly Father promises that He will bring our loved ones back to life, healthy and sound. ( John 5 : 28, 29 ). Soon He will restore His original beautiful purpose for us and the Earth where He will do away with death and sorrow permanently. (Rev 21 : 3,4 ). I truly hope you can cope and have peace as you deal with your loss.
