Norman Lee Klingbile was born February 19, 1928, in Rapid City, South Dakota, the son of Walter and Doris (Brownson) Klingbile. He grew up in the Quinn area and received his education, graduating from Quinn High School in 1946. Norman had a high school sweetheart by the name of Betty Jane Petersen, and they were married June 29, 1947 in Quinn.
They began their married life on the farm east of Quinn, before moving into Quinn in 1948 and started their family of two boys and two girls. They lived in Rapid City for a short time before moving to Wall. Norm was a deputy sheriff for 26 years. He was loved and respected by many. He later did maintenance for Prairie Village and worked for the Wall Drug Store. When he retired, he and Betty started going to Arizona to spend the winters, and made many friends there. He really enjoyed meeting his “buddies” for coffee at Wall Drug. Norman loved his family so much. He enjoyed “tinkering” in his shop and was always ready to make the yard beautiful.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Betty of Wall; a son Norman Klingbile of Albuquerque, New Mexico; two daughters Barbara Patterson and her husband Dale of Wall, and Wanda Johnson and her husband Gail of Pierre; 11 grandchildren Justin (Teri), Sean, Ryan (Jessica), Dain (Lori), and Karmin Patterson; Cristi (Brett) Guptill, Tommi Cheney (Taylor Mohnen), Malori (Chris) Teigen, Shaun Johnson, Darren (Heather) Johnson, Chad Klingbile; 16 great-grandchildren JC, Jr, Mataya Livermont, Tobyn and Madelynn Teigen; Mya and Jada Guptill, Brycen and Riggens Cheney, Kyra, Ayden and Liam Patterson, Vaun Patterson, Alexia and Beckett Johnson, and Morgan Patterson; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Norman was preceded in death by a son Craig Klingbile; his parents; a sister Francis Klingbile; and a grandson-in-law Bart Cheney.
Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 31, at the Rush Funeral Home in Wall.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 1, at the United Methodist Church in Wall, with Pastor Russell Masaritis officiating.
Interment will be at the Wall Cemetery.

Wands, Barb -- So surprised to hear of your Dad passing. I was just thinking about him, about a month ago. I planned to give him a call and say hello. I sure wish I would have carried through with that thought. First met your Dad in the early 70's servicing the radio equipment. I always had time to stop and say Hi over a cup of coffee!!
He will be missed!!

Cathy and I are in Texas this Winter. We heard that Norm had passed away today. I have fond memories of him while growing up in Wall. He was always there as a friend when needed someone to talk to and I had a couple of talks that I deserved back in my younger days. Norm was a friend to everyone. Rest in peace my friend.

Betty and Family,
As a highway patrolman stationed in Philip from 1967 to 1972, I made more than a few trips over to Wall (patrolling of course) in order to have a five cent cup of coffee and a world famous donut at Wall Drug along with Ken Wernke, Harold Hoffman, Steve Kenoyer and right in the middle of this group was smiling Norm Klingbile. What great memories of some great times and a remarkable man. I know the Lord has his protective arms around this family until the day they will all be together again as one. Our prayers are with you. Jim

Dear Betty and family, I am so sorry for you hat Norm has passed on to the Lord. He was such a positive influence in many of our lives as young people. He actually sort of,,"arrested" me and a couple of buddies when I was about 8 years old! A good fatherly like talk, and a few more along the years were very good for me no doubt. He always had such a great smile, and I remember him very fondly at Wall Drug and as the sheriff. Take some comfort in this timeless promise: "I am the resurrection and life; he who believes in Me shall live even if he dies." Trudye and my prayers are with you today. dan fosness

Betty, Barb, Wanda, and Lynn, So sorry for your loss. Remembering a lot of times when Mom and Dad and our family visited you in Wall and Rapid City. One time in Wall us kids went outside and I got my shoes muddied with gumbo and put them on your heat register and it melted the bottoms of the shoes. Of course we just laid Mom to rest in early January and know the pain you are going through now. Dad died in 2005. Sending prayers and hugs and that God will provide comfort for all your hearts. Thank you all for your friendship with our family. Leroy and Dorothy Denke's Family.
