Lynn Briggs

of Midland, South Dakota, died on Saturday, May 14, 2022
at his home north of Midland at the age of 57

Lynn E. Briggs was born September 10, 1964, in Pierre, South Dakota, the youngest of four children born to Elmer and Marjorie (Pickles) Briggs. He grew up in Robbs Flat and attended rural school there before attending Pierre High School, graduating in 1983.
After graduation, he attended Northern State University and later Mitchell Vo-Tech. He worked at the Ford dealership in Pierre, sold oil field equipment in Wyoming, and also carried out the plans for the design of various Wal-Marts, including the Pierre location.

However, his most important and rewarding job was to care for their mother during the last 10 years of her life. Along with his mother, Lynn watched out for other people, and didn’t hesitate to assist his friends and neighbors.

He had a passion for fantasy football, enjoyed playing cards, and cherished playing baseball in his youth at Four Corners, and spent numerous hours renovating Deadwood Trail signs along the Old Deadwood Trail.

Survivors include three siblings, Janet Briggs of Spearfish, Edward Briggs and his wife Beth of Midland, and Jacque Ritter and her husband Mark of Dayton, Minnesota; four nieces and nephews Stephanie Ritter of Broomfield, Colorado, Rochelle Ritter of Columbia, South Carolina, Casey Briggs of Vienna, South Dakota, and Shane Briggs of Ft. Pierre; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Lynn was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 23, at the Rush Funeral Home in Philip, with Pastor Kathy Chesney officiating.

Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. (MDT) at the Robbs Flat Cemetery north of Midland.

Lynn loved history and helped replace and refurbish the Historic Trail signs of Roy & Edith Norman's throughout Stanley and Haakon Counties for some signs on the Dupree Indian Trail, Cherry Creek Trail to Pierre Indian School, Cherry Creek Trail to Rosebud, Ft Bennett to Nebraska stateline where the trail went on to Army forts and the Old Deadwood Trail from Ft Pierre, SD. He was a good friend and so loyal in the care of his mom. Rest in Peace my Friend-we will miss you!
